For example, the clever Rat represents quick thinking, while the loyal Dog reflects commitment. These attributes are more prominent in certain years and with certain animals, but the ancient symbols remain rooted in our metaphysical interactions with cosmic and earthly forces.

The 12 Animals and Their Symbolic Meanings

We start our zodiac list at the 'first' animal, the Rat. Paradoxically the Chinese calendar year starts with Tiger, on the 4th of February, the first day of Spring. The celebration festival for Chinese New Year starts on the second New Moon after Winter solstice, this year January 29th 2025. Traditionally this is everyone's birthday. Nothing like a good celebration.

This year, for those born in the year of the Snake, I've continued with using a little numerology, as each element relates to a number and each year, of course has an end number, for example; 2025 ends with a five. This is added to with the insights relating this year, so there is a little extra for each type; Blue, Purple. Gold, Silver and Grey Snake. The colour relates to the element of the year you were born in. So if you have always known yourself as a Wood Snake, this is Blue Snake. The colours relate to the Taoist tradition of knowledge.

If Dragon blew a favourable currents under the ungainly flight bird that is the rooster, take in the more rarefied air, Blue Snake is at the helm and we are at cruising altitude the captain has turned off the seatbelt sign. We have reached cruising altitude and the captain has turned off the seatbelt sign. The Rooster can move around a bit and take care of basic needs; it's pleasant to stretch a feather in the aisles for a change. Blue Snake has its feathered companion on a direct flight to the Orion Belt, and never before has a chicken traveled such a distance.

What is that noise coming from the back? Our Rooster has started pecking at the upholstery, trying to maintain harmony and stay afloat in family relationships. Representing peace, calm and active stillness, the Pig is highly sensitive and seeks moments of 'down-time', turning home into a sanctuary. A perfectionist at heart, the Pig is also willing to compromise for mutual benefit. Dedicated to their career, they blend personal interests with work, with a strong will, sometimes to an extreme if goals are unmet. A collector, the gathering of things, people and talent, the Pig is creative and enjoys life's finer things.
